Custom means a pattern drafted for your body without the multiple fittings — same personal pattern, less time in the studio. Made-to-measure adjusts a factory block pattern instead of drafting one. Bespoke: drafted for you, perfected through fittings

Bespoke starts with a blank sheet — a paper pattern drafted for your build, posture, and proportions. Then comes what makes it bespoke: multiple basted fittings, where the suit is loosely stitched together so it can be refined on your body, fitted again, and refined again until the result is exact. It's the most precise way to make a suit, and it asks the most of your calendar.

Custom: drafted for you, without the fitting marathon

Custom starts the same way — an individual pattern drafted specifically for your body, cut from cloth you chose. The difference is the process: no multiple basted fittings. The pattern does the work, so you get a garment built for one body (yours) without the repeated studio visits. Plenty of our clients choose this — they want the personal pattern and the fit it delivers, but they'd rather not go through fitting after fitting to get there.

Made-to-measure: adjusted, not built

Made-to-measure takes an existing factory pattern in roughly your size and alters the measurements — sleeve length, waist suppression, trouser length. It's faster and cheaper, and a fine step up from off the rack. But the underlying shape was designed for someone else's body. If your shoulders slope, one arm runs longer, or your posture isn't textbook, adjustments can only do so much.

Which one is right for you?

• You want the ultimate and have the time: bespoke. The basted fittings are the experience as much as the result.
• You want a personal pattern but a faster process: custom. Same drafted-for-you foundation, streamlined.
• You want better than off the rack on a tighter budget: made-to-measure — just make sure it's sold as what it is.

A lot of shops blur these words, calling made-to-measure "bespoke" or "custom." Fair questions to ask any tailor: Is the pattern drafted individually for me, or adjusted from a block?
