Vicuña fibre in the Andes — Loro Piana
Our Fabrics · Mill Story

Loro Piana

Valsesia, Italy · Est. 1924

The quiet-luxury maison obsessed with the world's rarest natural fibres — a century of textile mastery, and a cornerstone of the b.spoke cloth library.

The Heritage

A century in pursuit of the world's finest fibres

Loro Piana was founded in Valsesia, Italy, in 1924 as a wool-trading company — and spent the next hundred years becoming, in its own words, ‘the ultimate destination for sophistication, excellence, and textile artisanship.’ The maison's 2024 centenary was marked by Master of Fibres, an Assouline volume bound in Tela Sergio, a cotton-linen favourite of Sergio Loro Piana himself.

What sets Loro Piana apart is vertical obsession: Pier Luigi Loro Piana spent a decade convincing Chinese herders to separate ultra-fine kid-goat fibre — creating Baby Cashmere. In 1994 the maison led a consortium with the Peruvian government to conserve the vicuña, shearing the 12.5-micron fibre live under CITES regulation. From the 2,000-hectare Franco Loro Piana reserve to blockchain-traced garments, every fibre is followed from its origin to the cloth.

Baby Cashmere. Vicuña. The Gift of Kings. Loro Piana doesn't just buy fine fibre — it protects the animals, the herders and the land behind it, then processes everything in Italy. That's the quiet difference you feel in the cloth.
